How the Destiny Matrix Is Calculated

Every number on this site comes from a few additions on your date of birth. Enter any date to see each step with the real sums, then check them against any other calculator.

The one rule: reduce to 22

The method works with the 22 Major Arcana, so every number has to land between 1 and 22. When a sum is larger, add its digits: 38 becomes 3 + 8 = 11. If the result is still above 22, repeat. A day of birth of 31 becomes 4, the year 1990 becomes 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19.

The main points

Day, month and year are the left, top and right points of the chart. They describe character, natural talents and the lessons you came to learn.

The trial is the bottom point, the sum of the three. It is the main challenge of the chart.

The center is the sum of all four. It is the core arcanum, the one most readings start from.

The corners of the second square are sums of neighbouring points: day + month, month + year, year + trial and trial + day. They describe family lines and comfort zones.

The karmic tail and the lines

The inner point under the center is the trial plus the center. The karmic tail is read from the edge inward: the trial, the trial plus the inner point, and the inner point itself, written like 11-17-6.

The money line starts with the year plus the center. Added to the inner point, it gives the balance of love and money, the number both lines share. The money channel is the balance plus the money entry; the love channel is the balance plus the inner point. That gives two lines of three numbers each, such as 5-11-16 and 6-11-17.

Couples and years

A couple chart adds the two personal charts point by point and reduces each sum. A personal year adds your day and month of birth to the digits of the year: for 2027 that is 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11.

Where these formulas come from

The destiny matrix method is credited to Natalia Ladini and combines the 22 tarot arcana with numerology. It is a tool for self-reflection, not a science, and different schools read some points differently. We publish every formula so you can see exactly what a number is based on.

How is the destiny matrix calculated?

From the date of birth only. The day, the month and the digits of the year each give a number from 1 to 22; their sums give the trial and the center; every other point is the sum of two neighbours. Any sum above 22 is reduced by adding its digits.

Why do some calculators give different numbers?

The nine main points are the same everywhere. Differences come from the lines: some sites read the love or money line as one point next to the center, others as three numbers in the lower right part of the chart. We use the three-number reading, the most common one in English.

Do I need my birth time or place?

No. The destiny matrix uses only the date. Birth time and place matter in astrology, not here.

How is a couple chart calculated?

Each point of the two personal charts is added together and reduced to 1–22. The center of that combined chart is the number of the couple.
