Where the karmic tail sits

In the destiny matrix chart the karmic tail is the point at the bottom right, between the year and the trial. It is their sum, reduced to a number from 1 to 22. The year holds the lessons you came to learn, the trial holds your main challenge, and the point between them shows how those two meet in everyday life: as a habit, a fear, or a familiar kind of relationship.

People usually recognize their tail immediately. It is the thing they have "always" done, the type of partner they keep choosing, or the way their plans tend to go wrong. Seeing it named is often the first step to doing it differently.

All 22 karmic tails

The old pattern and the way out, for every arcanum.

1The Magician

An old pattern of scattered talent: many beginnings, few endings, or using charm to get your way. The way out is to pick one thing and see it through, honestly.

2The High Priestess

A pattern of keeping silent: hiding what you know, waiting to be understood without speaking. The way out is to trust your intuition out loud.

3The Empress

A pattern around care: giving until empty, or measuring love by what is provided. The way out is to receive as easily as you give.

4The Emperor

A pattern of control: holding everything yourself, or being ruled by someone who does. The way out is shared responsibility, not total control.

5The Hierophant

A pattern of rigid rules: living by someone else's "should", or lecturing instead of listening. The way out is finding your own beliefs.

6The Lovers

A pattern of hard choices in love: triangles, doubt, choosing to please others. The way out is choosing for yourself and standing by it.

7The Chariot

A pattern of drifting or rushing: either stuck without direction or chasing goals that are not yours. The way out is a direction you chose.

8Justice

A pattern around justice: feeling wronged, keeping score, or judging harshly. The way out is honest balance, starting with yourself.

9The Hermit

A pattern of isolation: shutting people out or feeling unseen. The way out is sharing what you have learned instead of keeping it inside.

10Wheel of Fortune

A pattern of repeating cycles: the same situations coming back, waiting for luck. The way out is noticing the loop and acting differently.

11Strength

A pattern of force: pushing too hard, anger, or burning out. The way out is gentle strength, knowing when to rest.

12The Hanged Man

A pattern of sacrifice: feeling stuck, giving up too much, playing the victim. The way out is choosing your pauses instead of suffering them.

13Transformation

A pattern of holding on: fear of change, or sudden losses that force it. The way out is letting the old end so the new can start.

14Temperance

A pattern of extremes: all or nothing, swinging between moods or habits. The way out is moderation that still feels alive.

15The Devil

A pattern of attachment: dependence on people, habits or money. The way out is wanting things without being owned by them.

16The Tower

A pattern of collapse: plans falling apart, explosive conflicts. The way out is building on your own foundation, not someone else's.

17The Star

A pattern of hiding your light: talent kept back, or dreams that never meet reality. The way out is showing your work to the world.

18The Moon

A pattern of fear and illusion: anxiety, secrets, self-deception. The way out is checking your fears against what is real.

19The Sun

A pattern around recognition: needing applause, or holding back your warmth. The way out is shining without needing to be the center.

20Judgement

A pattern from the family line: old conflicts, judgments, unfinished stories. The way out is accepting your roots and choosing your own path.

21The World

A pattern of limits: feeling trapped, or always running toward the next horizon. The way out is freedom that includes commitment.

22The Fool

A pattern of avoiding responsibility: drifting, never settling, staying a child. The way out is keeping your freedom while you grow up.

Questions

How do I find my karmic tail?

Add the year arcanum (digit sum of your birth year, reduced to 1–22) and the trial arcanum (day + month + year arcana, reduced). Reduce the result to 1–22 again. That number is your karmic tail. The calculator above does it for you.

Is a karmic tail bad?

No. It is a pattern, not a punishment. It shows where you tend to repeat the same situation, and working through it usually becomes one of your strengths.

Can the karmic tail change?

The number stays the same because your date does. What changes is how you live it: the same arcanum can show up as an old trap or as a skill you have mastered.

Some sites show the karmic tail as three numbers. Why only one here?

Some schools read the whole bottom-right line of the chart, three numbers in a row. We show the main point of that line, the one between the year and the trial, because it carries the pattern itself.
